The OLNP Forum met at FarmEd in October 2024 to shape a plan for delivery of the LNRS.

On Wednesday 23 October, the Oxfordshire Local Nature Partnership (OLNP) gathered at our annual Forum event, bringing together a wide range of partners committed to restoring Oxfordshire’s environment, connecting people with nature, and tackling climate change.

At the heart of our discussions was the draft Local Nature Recovery Strategy, which has the potential to provide a powerful framework to shape nature recovery across Oxfordshire. Together, we explored how this strategy can drive action and deliver wider benefits for nature and people.

We were grateful to hear presentations from:

• Richard Benwell, Chair of the OLNP and CEO of Wildlife and Countryside Link
• Edel McGurk, Director of Operations at Natural England, about the wider political and funding landscape for nature recovery. You can find the presentation here.
• Camilla Burrow, CEO of Wild Oxfordshire, and Chloe Edwards, Oxfordshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy Project Manager, about the new Local Nature Recovery Strategy. You can find the presentation here.

The Forum met at Farm Ed, a pioneering organisation that acts as a 'living textbook' of regenerative farming in the beautiful Evenlode Valley. We were also joined by folk singer Sam Lee, who provided a welcome pause and space for inspiration.

We are grateful for the time and insights contributed by our partners. Collaboration is key to addressing the nature and climate crises. It was inspiring to see so many organisations and individuals bringing their unique perspectives to this shared challenge. Together, we are building momentum to restore Oxfordshire’s nature and secure a thriving future for both people and the planet.

Next steps

We have collated the outputs from the workshop into an outline theory of change for delivery of the LNRS. You can find those outputs here.

Consultation on the LNRS closed on Sunday 1 December. The consultation received over 2,100 responses. These will be collated and organised, and responded to in a published public report which will be available online in 2025.
